MAN SENTENCED TO 42 YEARS AFTER KILLING MOTHER OF HIS FOUR CHILDREN

A Missouri man has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for killing the mother of his four children, nearly three years after she disappeared following a routine day of dropping their children off.

Trenton D. Ivy, 34, pleaded guilty on October 5 to second-degree murder, along with three charges involving tampering with a vehicle and physical evidence in connection with the death of 29-year-old Marquisha Williams. A St. Louis County judge sentenced him to 30 years for the murder and an additional four years for each of the three other charges, to be served consecutively.

Williams was last seen alive in December 2023. According to court records and reports, she and Ivy had been taking their children to daycare, school and relatives’ homes before leaving together in Williams’ Jeep.

When Williams failed to show up for work, her family became concerned and reported her missing.

Days later, investigators discovered Ivy in Wisconsin in possession of Williams’ Jeep. Police said they found her personal belongings and what appeared to be blood and biological material inside the vehicle.

During an interview with investigators, Ivy admitted that he had killed Williams following a physical altercation and later disposed of her body, according to court documents.

Williams’ body was discovered several days later in an Illinois nature preserve. The medical examiner determined that her death was a homicide and ruled the cause of death as strangulation.

The emotional impact of the case was highlighted during Monday’s sentencing.

Williams’ cousin, Cori Curry, told the court that the four children had lost not only their mother on the day she died, but also the everyday presence, guidance and love she would have given them throughout their lives.

One of the children also confronted Ivy in court, asking him a painful question: “Why did you do this?” according to local reporting.

Ivy will now spend decades behind bars for the killing.

The case has also renewed attention on the devastating consequences of domestic violence and the lasting impact a violent death can have on children and families.
