Ryan Theaker Jailed for 11 Years: Former Merseyside Police Officer Convicted of Rape
‘MONSTER’ FORMER POLICE OFFICER JAILED FOR 11 YEARS AFTER 82-MINUTE RAPE

A former British police officer has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after being convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a woman in a Liverpool hotel room.
Ryan Theaker, 30, was serving as a constable with Merseyside Police when the attack took place in 2023. The victim, who knew him, secretly recorded the incident on her mobile phone — evidence that later played a significant role in the criminal case.
At Liverpool Crown Court, jurors heard that the assault lasted around 82 minutes. The woman repeatedly begged him to stop, reportedly telling him to “get off me” more than 300 times.
Theaker was convicted of rape, sexual assault and assault by penetration in August 2026. On October 8, he was sentenced to 11 years in prison, followed by an extended five-year period on licence. The judge classified him as a dangerous offender.
In a powerful victim impact statement, the woman described the lasting consequences of the attack and the struggle she faced in the aftermath. She also spoke about her determination to seek justice, despite the emotional toll of the case.
The investigation began after the victim reported the offences in 2024. During the inquiry, officers seized Theaker’s phone and discovered that he had shared videos described as ableist in a WhatsApp group while he was still serving as a police officer. Those matters were dealt with separately from the sexual offences.
Theaker resigned from the force before a misconduct hearing concluded that he would have been dismissed had he remained an officer.
The case has raised serious concerns about abuse of authority and the trust placed in people who serve in law enforcement. The victim’s courage in reporting the attack and preserving crucial evidence helped bring the case before a jury.
Her message in court was clear: people who commit such crimes must be held accountable, regardless of their position or profession.
