Indiana Mom of 3 Accused of Killing Ex-Boyfriend While Allegedly Recording TikTok Video
Indiana Mother of Three Fatally Shot by Ex-Boyfriend While Filming TikTok Video

A joyful moment captured on video took a devastating turn when 25-year-old Kaitlynn Lee, a mother of three from New Albany, Indiana, was fatally shot while filming a TikTok video with a friend.
The shooting occurred on August 10, 2024, at an apartment in New Albany. According to police reports cited by Fox News, Lee was in the kitchen with her friend when they heard banging at a window. Moments later, Lee was shot.
Her former boyfriend, Joshua Thompson, 25, was arrested and charged in connection with her death.
A Video Captures the Moments Before the Shooting
According to the witness’s account reported by local media, Lee and her friend had been laughing, singing and dancing while recording their TikTok video.
The mood changed when they heard noises coming from the window. Lee reportedly asked, “What are you doing here?” before the shooting occurred.
Investigators later reviewed the video, which reportedly showed the women turning toward the kitchen window shortly before a gunshot was heard and the recording abruptly ended.
Police said the friend identified Thompson as the person standing outside the window with a gun.

Reports of a Troubled Relationship
Lee’s relatives described a difficult history between her and Thompson. Her aunt, Pamela Greenwell, told local news outlet WAVE that Lee had moved several times in the months before her death because of concerns involving Thompson.
Greenwell also said Lee had previously suffered serious injuries during an alleged assault. According to the report, an emergency protective order had been issued.
Investigators said Thompson allegedly told police that he went to the apartment because he wanted to find out whether Lee was with another man, despite a no-contact order.
Arrest and Criminal Charges
Thompson was arrested after the shooting and charged with murder. He also faced additional charges, including invasion of privacy, criminal recklessness and unlawful carrying of a handgun, according to reports at the time.
The case drew attention to concerns about domestic violence and the challenges of protecting people who have experienced threats or abuse from former partners.
Lee’s death left three young children without their mother. Family members expressed grief over the loss and sought support to help care for the children and cover funeral expenses.
The allegations described in the original reporting concern the events of August 2024; this article does not establish the current status or outcome of the criminal proceedings.
