Texas Woman’s Disappearance Ends in Tragedy as 24-Year-Old Man Is Arrested

A search for a missing 20-year-old woman in Texas ended in tragedy in May 2023 after authorities discovered her remains and arrested a man in connection with her death.

Madeline Molina Pantoja was last seen alive at around 11 p.m. on May 10, 2023, in Midland, Texas. After she was reported missing, police launched an extensive search that continued around the clock.

Investigators received assistance from several agencies, including the FBI, Texas Rangers, Department of Homeland Security and Midland County Sheriff’s Office. Officials worked to establish what had happened to Pantoja and determine where she had gone.

On May 20, authorities discovered her remains in an area east of County Roads 190 and 1160 in Midland County. An autopsy was planned as part of the investigation.

That same day, police arrested 24-year-old Mario Juan Chacon Jr. He was charged with murder in connection with Pantoja’s death, according to the Midland Police Department.

The arrest marked a major development in the search, but investigators continued examining the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and death. A murder charge is an accusation, not a conviction.
