FedEx Truck Left Dangling Over New York Bridge After Terrifying Crash Injures Five, Including an Infant

A shocking truck crash in upstate New York left a FedEx semitrailer hanging precariously over a bridge and sent five people, including an infant, to the hospital.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. on March 14, 2024, on Interstate 90 near Pittsford, New York. According to officials, the FedEx truck sideswiped another vehicle before overturning, leaving the truck’s cab dangerously supported by a guardrail.
Emergency responders arrived to find a scene that could have ended far worse. The truck driver had managed to get out of the vehicle and was found conscious and alert. Meanwhile, three adults and an infant who were traveling in the other vehicle were also injured.
All five people were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with injuries initially described by officials as seemingly minor.
One factor that may have prevented a more devastating outcome was that the truck’s trailers were empty at the time of the crash. Fire Chief Mark Cholach warned that a fully loaded truck could have made the situation significantly more dangerous.
The crash also caused diesel fuel, oil and other mechanical fluids to spill, prompting a hazardous materials response. Multiple emergency agencies worked at the scene while authorities dealt with the damaged vehicle and road closures.
Despite the frightening position of the truck and the potential consequences, all five injured individuals were reported to have sustained seemingly minor injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the crash were being investigated by New York State Police.
