California Woman Accused of Killing Her Younger Sister and Newborn Baby in Shocking Family Case

A tragic case in Fresno, California, shocked the community after an 18-year-old mother and her three-week-old daughter were found shot dead inside their home. Investigators said the killings may have stemmed from jealousy and rivalry between siblings.
On September 24, 2022, police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in Fresno. Officers discovered Yanelly Solorio-Rivera and her infant daughter, Celine, dead inside a bedroom. According to police, the young mother was found holding her baby.
More than a month later, authorities arrested Yanelly’s older sister, 22-year-old Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Martin Arroyo-Morales, in connection with the killings.
Investigators said evidence, including surveillance footage and a recovered firearm, helped advance the case. Police also identified jealousy and sibling rivalry as a suspected motive.
Prosecutors charged both suspects with two counts of murder and alleged that they had acted together. Yarelly was also accused of personally firing the weapon that killed her sister and niece.
The case drew widespread attention because the victims were a young mother and her newborn child, and the suspects were allegedly members of their own family circle.

The allegations described in the original reports were serious, but charges alone do not establish guilt. The case highlights the devastating consequences that violence can have on families and the wider community.
