SHE WANTED TO STEAL HER GRANDSON Part 1: The Grandmother’s Secret Plan

SHE WANTED TO STEAL HER GRANDSON

Chapter 1: The Grandmother’s Secret Plan

The moment Isabella gave birth to her first son, she believed her life had finally become complete. She had a loving husband, a beautiful baby boy named Alexander, and a home she hoped would be filled with happiness.

But she soon discovered that the greatest threat to her family was living under the same roof.

Margaret Blackwood, her wealthy and powerful mother-in-law, had never considered Isabella worthy of joining the prestigious Blackwood family. To Margaret, marriage was not about love. It was about bloodlines, reputation, and control.

And now that a male heir had been born, she intended to control every part of his life.

“Give Alexander to me,” Margaret commanded one morning, extending her arms toward the newborn.

Isabella tightened her hold on her son. “I’m sorry, Mother, but he’s sleeping. I’ll bring him downstairs when he wakes up.”

Margaret’s expression darkened.

“Did you just refuse me?”

“I only want him to rest.”

“You seem to have forgotten whose family you married into,” Margaret snapped. “Alexander is the future heir of this family. He will be raised according to our traditions, not according to your foolish ideas.”

Isabella stared at her in disbelief. She was still recovering from childbirth, yet her mother-in-law treated her as if she were an incompetent servant.

“He is my son,” Isabella replied quietly. “I have the right to decide what’s best for him.”

Margaret let out a cold laugh.

“Your son? Don’t be ridiculous. You gave birth to him, but that doesn’t mean you understand how to raise a Blackwood heir.”

With those words, she turned and walked away.

Isabella looked down at her sleeping baby, tears gathering in her eyes. She had endured Margaret’s insults since the wedding, believing that patience would eventually earn her acceptance. Now, however, she realized that her mother-in-law wanted something far more dangerous than obedience.

She wanted her child.

Over the following weeks, Margaret began putting her plan into action.

Without Isabella’s permission, she hired a private nanny named Helen, an experienced woman who had been instructed to report every detail of Alexander’s daily routine directly to her.

Then Margaret ordered the servants to move the baby’s nursery from the master bedroom wing to a separate section of the mansion, where she could supervise everything.

When Isabella protested, Margaret simply handed her a list of new household rules.

“Alexander’s meals, sleeping schedule, medical appointments, and future education will be managed by me,” she announced during breakfast. “You may visit him whenever you wish, provided you don’t interfere with his routine.”

Isabella’s hand trembled around her teacup.

“I’m his mother, not a visitor.”

“Then start behaving like a mother instead of an emotional little girl.”

Across the table, Isabella’s husband, Daniel, remained silent. He loved his wife, but he had spent his entire life obeying his formidable mother. Challenging Margaret was something he had never learned to do.

That silence hurt Isabella more than any insult.

Later that evening, Margaret cornered Daniel in his private study.

“Your wife is becoming unstable,” she told him, placing a folder on his desk. “She cries constantly, argues over insignificant matters, and refuses to accept guidance. Do you really believe she can raise the future heir of this family?”

Daniel frowned. “Isabella is tired. She just gave birth.”

“And what happens when her emotions begin affecting the child?”

“Mother, what are you suggesting?”

Margaret leaned forward.

“I’m suggesting that you must protect your son, even if that means protecting him from his own mother.”

Daniel stared at her, unable to answer.

Margaret smiled faintly. She knew her son better than anyone. If she planted enough doubt in his mind, he would eventually begin questioning Isabella himself.

What Daniel didn’t know was that his mother had already contacted a lawyer.

Inside the folder were draft legal documents outlining a plan to secure custody of Alexander if Daniel and Isabella ever divorced. Margaret intended to use the family’s wealth, influence, and carefully collected evidence to portray Isabella as an unfit mother.

She had even instructed Helen to record every argument and report every moment Isabella appeared distressed.

To Margaret, it was not cruelty.

It was strategy.

Three days later, Isabella entered the nursery unexpectedly and found Helen packing Alexander’s belongings into a small suitcase.

“What are you doing?” Isabella demanded.

Helen froze.

“Mrs. Blackwood instructed me to prepare the baby’s things. Master Alexander will be staying in her private wing tonight.”

“Why wasn’t I informed?”

“I was told that you had agreed.”

Isabella felt her stomach tighten.

“I never agreed to anything.”

She immediately went to Margaret’s office. The door was slightly open, and inside, her mother-in-law was speaking on the telephone.

“Yes, I want everything prepared before the end of the month,” Margaret said. “If the marriage collapses, I want my grandson protected from any attempt to take him away from this family.”

Isabella stopped breathing.

Then Margaret continued, her voice dropping to a whisper.

“My son may hesitate, but he will eventually understand. Isabella has no idea what she’s dealing with.”

Isabella stepped backward, her heart pounding. As she turned to leave, she noticed a thick folder lying open on the desk.

Her name was printed across the first page.

CONFIDENTIAL: CUSTODY AND GUARDIANSHIP STRATEGY.

With shaking hands, she took out her phone and photographed every page she could.

What she discovered inside was worse than she had imagined. Margaret had prepared statements questioning Isabella’s mental stability, gathered reports from the nanny, and outlined how the Blackwood family could seek custody of Alexander if the marriage ended.

This was not a misunderstanding.

It was a carefully planned attempt to take her child away.

For the first time since entering the Blackwood mansion, Isabella was no longer afraid.

She was furious.

The following evening, Margaret summoned the entire family to the grand dining room. Daniel’s father, Richard Blackwood, sat at the head of the table, while several senior relatives gathered around them.

Margaret had intended to use the meeting to announce new rules concerning Alexander’s upbringing.

Instead, Isabella arrived carrying a black folder.

“I believe everyone should see what has been happening behind closed doors,” she announced.

Margaret’s smile disappeared.

“Isabella, this is a family meeting, not a place for your childish accusations.”

“Then you’ll have no problem explaining these documents.”

Isabella placed the folder in the center of the table.

Daniel opened it. As he read the first few pages, the color drained from his face.

“Mother,” he whispered. “What is this?”

Margaret rose sharply from her chair.

“Those documents have been taken out of context!”

“Then explain why you’ve been preparing to take my son away from me,” Isabella demanded. “Explain why you hired someone to monitor me, why you moved my baby without my permission, and why you’ve been telling my husband that I’m unfit to be a mother.”

The room erupted in shocked whispers.

Margaret looked around the table, searching for someone willing to defend her.

“You ungrateful girl!” she shouted. “Everything I’ve done has been for Alexander’s future!”

“No,” Isabella replied, her voice trembling but firm. “You’ve done it because you believe you can control everyone in this family.”

Margaret raised her hand as if to strike her, but a deep voice suddenly thundered across the room.

“Enough!”

Richard Blackwood slowly stood up.

For forty years, he had allowed his wife to rule their household, believing that her controlling nature was simply the price of maintaining the family’s reputation. But now, as he stared at the documents, something in his expression changed.

“Margaret,” he said coldly, “you have made the same mistake twice.”

She went completely still.

“Richard, don’t.”

He ignored her.

“Isabella deserves to know why you are so determined to take her child. And Daniel deserves to know the truth about the woman who has spent his entire life pretending to be the perfect mother.”

Daniel looked at his father in confusion.

“What truth?”

Richard reached into his jacket and pulled out an old, yellowed envelope.

Margaret’s face turned deathly pale.

“Put that away!” she screamed.

But Richard had already opened it.

Inside was a document that had been hidden for more than thirty years—a document that could destroy Margaret’s carefully protected reputation and expose the darkest secret of her past.

Richard looked directly at his wife.

“You tried to convince everyone that Isabella was unfit to raise her own child. But before you judge her, perhaps you should explain what happened to your own firstborn.”

The room fell silent.

Daniel slowly turned toward his mother.

“Firstborn? What is Father talking about?”

Margaret’s lips parted, but no words came out.

For the first time in her life, the most powerful woman in the Blackwood family looked truly terrified.

And Isabella realized that the battle for her son had uncovered a secret far more devastating than she could ever have imagined.
