Three-Year-Old Girl Rescued After Falling Into Borewell in India

Faridabad, Haryana, India — September 28, 2026

A three-year-old girl was rescued early Monday after falling into an open borewell while playing in Sihi village in Faridabad, Haryana, according to Indian news reports.

Child Falls Into Borewell While Playing

The girl reportedly fell into the borewell at around 6 p.m. on Sunday while she was playing near the village.

Local authorities were alerted about the incident at around 7:45 p.m. Rescue teams were quickly sent to the scene after learning that the child was trapped underground.

Multiple Agencies Join Overnight Rescue

A joint operation involving the National Disaster Response Force, Haryana State Disaster Response Force, police, fire services and medical teams continued throughout the night.

Rescuers worked around the borewell to reach the child while maintaining communication and supplying oxygen during the operation.

According to NDRF officials, the rescue operation continued for several hours before the girl was finally brought to the surface at approximately 3:50 a.m. Monday.

Girl Taken for Medical Treatment

After being pulled from the borewell, the child was immediately taken for medical treatment.

Authorities have not released detailed information about her medical condition. Officials said the rescue was completed successfully and medical teams were attending to her.

Family Waits Through the Night

The girl’s mother told ANI that her daughter had been on her way to a shop when the incident occurred. She said the child had previously been allowed to play outside the home.

Family members and local residents remained at the scene while rescue teams worked through the night to bring the child to safety.

Rescue Operation Completed

The successful rescue brought an end to an overnight operation involving several emergency agencies.

Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the incident and the condition of the open borewell where the child fell.
