Dutch Police Arrest Man Accused of Trying to Arrange Two Murders

Dutch police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam who is suspected of attempting to arrange two murders abroad, after investigators found information about the alleged plans on his laptop.

The man was arrested on September 15 as part of a separate investigation into the ShinyHunters hacking group. Dutch police said the suspected murder plans are being investigated separately from the cybercrime case.

Information Found on His Laptop

According to Dutch police, investigators found a large amount of information on the suspect’s laptop after his arrest. Among the material was information concerning two murders that were allegedly supposed to take place abroad.

Police said there are indications that the suspect may have ordered the killings. However, authorities have not said who the alleged targets were or where the murders were supposed to take place.

The Two Investigations Are Separate

The arrest originally came during an investigation into the ShinyHunters cybercrime group, which Dutch authorities describe as being involved in major data breaches affecting victims in the Netherlands and other countries.

Police emphasized that the suspected attempt to arrange two murders is a separate investigation and is not part of the case involving ShinyHunters.

Police Seize Digital Evidence

Investigators seized several electronic storage devices during the operation. Police are examining the material as they work to establish the full circumstances of the allegations.

Authorities said they have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation continues.

Suspect Remains in Custody

A court in Rotterdam ordered the suspect to remain in pretrial detention for another 90 days on September 29.

The suspect has not been convicted of the alleged murder-related offences. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not publicly disclosed further details about the alleged targets or the planned killings.

Cybercrime Case Continues Separately

Police are also continuing to investigate the man’s alleged connection to ShinyHunters. The group has been linked by authorities and cybersecurity researchers to numerous large-scale data breaches.

The Dutch investigation is continuing as officers analyze the seized devices and gather additional evidence.
