Two Killed and 35 Injured in Georgia Block Party Shooting
Two young men were killed and 35 people were injured after gunfire erupted at a crowded block party in Vienna, Georgia, early Sunday morning.
Gunfire Erupts at Crowded Party
The shooting happened shortly after 1 a.m. on October 4 during a large gathering in the small Georgia city. Hundreds of people had gathered during the weekend marking Dooly County High School’s homecoming.
Authorities said the event was not sponsored by the school or officially sanctioned. More than 1,000 people were reportedly in the area when gunfire broke out.
Two Young Men Killed
The two people killed were identified as Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson, 21, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, 23. Officials said the two men were not related.
Thirty-five other people were injured. Most suffered gunshot wounds, while others were hurt as people tried to escape the scene. Those injured ranged in age from 14 to 51.

Witnesses Describe Chaos
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as people ran in different directions after shots were fired. Emergency crews transported injured people to hospitals across the region.
Dooly County Sheriff Craig Peavy said the size of the crowd made the situation particularly difficult for law enforcement. Investigators have been working to determine how many shooters were involved.
No Suspect or Motive Announced
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation. As of the latest reports, authorities had not publicly identified a suspect or announced a motive.
Officials said there was no known continuing threat to the public. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has relevant information to contact authorities.
Community Faces the Aftermath
The shooting has shaken Vienna, a small community south of Atlanta. Local schools reopened with additional safety measures after the violence, while families continued to deal with the loss of two young lives and the injuries suffered by dozens of others.
Authorities said the investigation remains active as detectives work to reconstruct what happened during the crowded gathering.
