California Man Charged After Missing Wife’s Burned Remains Are Identified

A California woman who vanished from her home has been identified as the victim of a homicide investigation, leading to murder charges against her husband.
Jasmine Gill, 30, was last seen at her Sacramento home on September 30, 2026. Her cousin reported her missing on October 4, prompting authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
According to investigators, her husband, 28-year-old Gurinder Gill, initially claimed that immigration agents had taken Jasmine while she was checking the mail. However, officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement reportedly told detectives that the agency had conducted no operation at the couple’s address.
As the investigation continued, detectives found inconsistencies in his account. Authorities also learned that the couple had been involved in divorce proceedings and a child custody dispute.
The case took a grim turn when burned human remains were discovered in El Dorado County on October 1. Forensic testing later confirmed that the remains belonged to Jasmine.

Gurinder Gill was arrested on October 14 and charged with murder. He was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail and was reported to be held without bail. He was arraigned on October 16, according to the report.
The investigation has left many questions about the events leading up to Jasmine’s death. The allegations remain part of an ongoing criminal case, and the charge against Gurinder Gill is not itself a conviction.
