Florida Crash That Killed 3: DHS Reveals Truck Driver Crossed U.S. Border in 2018
Florida Highway Crash That Killed 3: What Investigators Say About Truck Driver Harjinder Singh

A deadly crash on Florida’s Turnpike left three people dead and raised questions about the truck driver’s immigration history and commercial driving credentials.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Harjinder Singh, an Indian national, crossed into the United States through California in 2018. Federal authorities said he was apprehended by Border Patrol near San Ysidro two days later and subsequently entered immigration proceedings.
The fatal collision occurred on August 12, 2025, near Fort Pierce, Florida. Investigators allege that Singh attempted an unauthorized U-turn while driving a commercial tractor-trailer. The truck’s trailer reportedly swung across the roadway and collided with a minivan carrying three people. All three occupants of the minivan died.
Singh was arrested in California on August 16, 2025, and faced three counts of vehicular homicide, according to Fox News. Authorities also examined how he obtained commercial driving credentials and whether the licensing process complied with applicable regulations.
DHS said Singh’s immigration case had remained pending after his initial processing in 2018. The crash subsequently sparked a public dispute over immigration enforcement and commercial driver licensing, with federal and state officials offering competing criticisms of the policies involved.

The case highlights the devastating consequences of a highway collision and the importance of determining exactly what happened. The allegations against Singh are criminal accusations, and the legal process is responsible for establishing his culpability.
