Hockey Rink Shooting Suspect Posted Warning About “Going Berserk” on Social Media Day Before Attack, Report Says

A social media post made one day before a deadly shooting at a hockey rink is drawing attention as investigators examine the events leading up to the attack.
According to Fox News, the suspected gunman had posted a message on X warning about “going berserk” the day before the shooting. The post has raised questions about whether there were signs of potential violence before the incident and whether anyone recognized the warning.
The shooting at a hockey rink sent shock waves through the local community, turning a place associated with sports and family gatherings into the scene of a deadly act of violence. Authorities have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the suspect’s actions and online activity before the shooting.
Social media posts can become important pieces of evidence in criminal investigations, helping authorities reconstruct a timeline and understand what a suspect may have communicated before an incident. However, the meaning of an individual post must be assessed in context, and a post alone does not establish a person’s motive.

The shooting occurred on February 16, 2026, at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, during a high school hockey game between Coventry and Blackstone Valley schools.
Police identified the suspect as 56-year-old Robert Dorgan, who was accused of opening fire on family members in what investigators described as a targeted incident connected to a family dispute. Authorities said Dorgan’s ex-wife, Rhonda Dorgan, and their son, Aidan Dorgan, were killed. Three other people were initially reported critically injured. One of those victims, Gerald Dorgan, later died from his injuries. Dorgan also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The social media post has drawn particular attention because it appeared just one day before the shooting. However, investigators have not publicly established a definitive motive, and the post alone does not explain why the attack occurred.
The tragedy unfolded in a setting where families had gathered to watch a school hockey game. Witnesses described scenes of panic as players and spectators scrambled for safety. A bystander, Michael Black, later recounted rushing toward the shooter and attempting to stop him, while other people helped restrain the suspect.
The investigation has brought renewed attention to warning signs that may appear before acts of violence, while also underscoring the importance of examining evidence carefully rather than drawing conclusions from a single online statement.
