India Wins Three Archery Gold Medals at the 2026 Asian Games
India won all three compound team gold medals in archery at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan on September 30, including a women’s team victory that matched the world record.
The women’s compound team of Chikitha Taniparthi, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep defeated China 238-234 in the final at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Aichi Prefecture.
Women’s Team Matches the World Record
India’s 238-point score equalled the world record for a 24-arrow women’s compound team match. The record was previously set by South Korea in 2014.
Vennam and Pradeep were perfect with all eight of their arrows, while the Indian team finished only two points short of a maximum score of 240.
India Also Wins the Men’s Team Event
India’s compound men’s team also claimed gold after defeating China 238-237 in a closely contested final.
Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, Ganesh Mani Ratnam Thirumuru and Kushal Dalal recovered from an early deficit and produced a strong finish to secure the title by one point.

A Third Gold in the Mixed Team Event
India completed a clean sweep of the three compound team events when Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav won the mixed team final.
The Indian pair drew 157-157 with South Korea after the regulation match and then won the shoot-off 20-19. The result also secured two quota places for the compound mixed team event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, where the event is scheduled to make its Olympic debut.
A Special Day for Chikitha Taniparthi
Taniparthi was part of two of India’s gold-medal teams on the same day. She first helped India defeat China in the women’s team final before joining Jadhav for the mixed team victory.
The 21-year-old had also entered the Asian Games as the top seed in the women’s compound competition after shooting a career-best qualification score of 705.
India Continues Its Strong Archery Record
The three victories allowed India to defend its compound team titles from the previous Asian Games and added another successful chapter to the country’s recent record in compound archery.
The individual compound medal events continued in Aichi-Nagoya after the team competitions, with athletes competing for the remaining medals at the Games.
