Teenager Escapes Basement After Alleged Kidnapping and Stabbing in Baltimore

A 15-year-old girl managed to escape from a basement in Baltimore, Maryland, after allegedly being kidnapped and stabbed by a 23-year-old man who had offered her a ride, according to police and court documents.
The incident reportedly happened on October 22, 2026. The teenager had accepted an unlicensed ride from Abubakarr Barrie, who was supposed to take her to a nearby restaurant. However, charging documents allege that he drove in the opposite direction. When she questioned him, he allegedly restrained her and took her to a property on Garrison Boulevard.
Police documents state that the girl was forced into a basement room, where she was allegedly stabbed several times. She fought back, scratching her attacker and striking him with a fire extinguisher before managing to escape.
The injured teenager then ran through the neighborhood seeking help. A nearby resident allowed her to use a phone to contact her mother and emergency services. She was taken to hospital, where she was treated for five stab wounds and a collapsed lung. Authorities have said she is expected to survive.
Barrie, 23, was arrested and charged with nine offenses, including attempted first-degree murder, assault and kidnapping. A judge ordered him held without bond. His public defender told the court that Barrie maintains his innocence. He is scheduled to appear at a further court hearing on November 25.

The case has also drawn attention from federal immigration authorities. The Department of Homeland Security says Barrie entered the United States through Arizona in December 2023 and was released after being apprehended by Border Patrol during the Biden administration. DHS also alleges that he was arrested in New York in July 2026 on a separate charge and later released.
Those immigration-related claims have been raised by federal officials and should be distinguished from the criminal allegations, which remain subject to the court process.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
