Texas RV Fire Kills Two Young Siblings as Their Parents Face Murder Charges

A devastating fire inside a recreational vehicle in Texas claimed the lives of two young siblings, leaving their family grieving and raising serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Mavryck “Mavy” Len, 4, and his younger sister, Skylar Jayne Chambers, 3, died on August 11, 2026, after a fire engulfed an RV on a wooded property near Cleveland, Texas.

Firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call reporting that the vehicle was burning and children were trapped inside. According to officials, the RV was already collapsing when firefighters arrived. Despite their efforts to enter the structure and extinguish the flames, both children were found dead inside.

The siblings were later remembered in their obituary as having a close bond. Their deaths left relatives facing an unimaginable loss.

The investigation took a major turn when authorities arrested the children’s parents, Meaghan Michelle Herrod, 30, and Matthew Allen Chambers, 39. Both were charged with two counts of felony murder in connection with the children’s deaths and were being held at the Liberty County Jail on $1 million bond each, according to the report.

Investigators continued working to determine how the fire started and establish where the parents were when it broke out. The children’s grandmother told local media that the parents had reportedly just left the RV and returned after a neighbor raised the alarm, but the vehicle was already engulfed in flames.

The Liberty County Fire Marshal’s Office led the investigation, with assistance from the sheriff’s office and district attorney’s office.

The case remains a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly a fire can become deadly, especially when young children are trapped. Authorities’ allegations against the parents remain part of the criminal proceedings, and the charges should not be treated as proof of guilt.
