Thane Man Arrested After Wife Found Dead in Suspected Murder
BHIWANDI, Maharashtra — September 20, 2026

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in Maharashtra after his 19-year-old wife was found dead following a domestic dispute, with police alleging that he assaulted and strangled her.

The accused, identified as Tabrez Jamshed Alam, was arrested by Narpoli Police in Bhiwandi, in Maharashtra’s Thane district, after the death of his wife, Sainab Tabrez Alam.

Argument Before Death
According to police, the couple had an argument at around 5:30 p.m. on September 18.

Investigators said the couple had reportedly been involved in recurring disputes, including disagreements over the woman’s relationship with her husband’s relatives.

Police allege that the argument escalated and that Alam assaulted and strangled his wife.

Hospital Raises Suspicion
The case came to light after Alam reportedly took his wife to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Thane on the evening of September 18.

Doctors reportedly noticed marks around her neck and fresh injuries on her face, prompting the hospital to alert Narpoli Police.

Police subsequently opened a murder investigation and arrested Alam on September 19.

Murder Case Registered
Narpoli Police registered a case against Alam under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which covers murder.

Alam was produced before a court following his arrest. The court remanded him to police custody until September 23, allowing investigators additional time to examine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and that they are working to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the death.

The allegations against Alam have not been proven in court.
