Young Father Found Dead After Vanishing at Football Game

A family’s search for a missing 24-year-old father has ended in tragedy after his body was recovered from a river in Cleveland, Ohio.

Phoenix Phillips Disappeared After the Game

Phoenix Phillips, a father of a two-year-old son from Maryland, had traveled to Cleveland with a friend to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play the Cleveland Browns on October 2.

After the game, Phillips became separated from his companion. Police said he was later seen in downtown Cleveland, but he did not return home. His phone was also reportedly dropped and eventually turned over to authorities.

Family Joined the Search

As days passed without contact, Phillips’ family traveled to Cleveland and began searching for him. Friends and relatives also shared his photograph and appealed for information.

Police described the circumstances surrounding his disappearance as concerning and continued investigating his whereabouts.

A Body Was Pulled From the Cuyahoga River

On October 6, emergency crews responded after a 911 caller reported seeing what appeared to be a body in the Cuyahoga River. Cleveland police, firefighters, EMS personnel and the Coast Guard recovered the body from the water.

Authorities Confirmed His Identity

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the person recovered from the river as Phillips. His death was reported on October 7, ending the family’s days-long search.

Authorities have not released a cause of death or explained how Phillips entered the river. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain under investigation.

A Family Left Waiting for Answers

Phillips’ mother had publicly described the wait for information as extremely difficult. The family is now grieving the loss of a young father whose trip to watch a football game ended in tragedy.
