Little Zah’Layah Walter was just five years old when her family’s drive home suddenly turned into a tragedy. 💔👧

On September 19, Zah’Layah was riding in a car with her mother, Monica Hicks, and her four siblings in northwest Harris County, Texas, when gunfire struck their vehicle. Zah’Layah was critically injured and later died at the hospital. Two of her siblings also suffered minor injuries from broken glass. 🕊️

Authorities arrested 47-year-old Jeremy Porter and charged him with capital murder in connection with Zah’Layah’s death. Investigators say technology, including automated license plate readers, helped identify the vehicle and locate the suspect. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations have not been proven in court.

For Zah’Layah’s mother, the loss is unimaginable. She described her little girl as someone deeply loved by her family, and a fundraiser has been created to help with funeral and memorial expenses. 🌷💗

She was only five — still growing, learning, laughing and making memories with her family.
