Kevin Adams’ Daughter Avia Speaks Out After His Conviction for Sexually Assaulting Andy Carroll
“I Think My Dad Is a Monster”: Daughter Speaks Out After Celebrity Dance Coach’s Sexual Assault Conviction
The daughter of former celebrity dance coach Kevin Adams says she was left shocked and heartbroken after learning that her father had been convicted of sexually assaulting former England footballer Andy Carroll.
Avia, 21, told The Sun that she and her older sister were unaware of the criminal case until recently. She said her father had never told her he had been jailed, leaving her struggling to reconcile the man she knew with the serious crime he had committed.

Adams, 59, was convicted at Chelmsford Crown Court in September 2023 and sentenced to 20 months in prison in November that year.
A Family Kept in the Dark
Avia said she felt sympathy for Carroll after learning what had happened to him. She praised the footballer for speaking publicly about his experience and said he had every right to identify the person who assaulted him.
She also described feeling a mixture of sadness, anger and disbelief after discovering the truth about her father.
According to the interview, Avia had believed Adams was much younger than he actually was and only recently learned his real age. She said she had not heard from him since the allegations became public and planned to change her surname to distance herself from him.
A Once-Familiar Face in Entertainment
Adams previously worked as a choreographer and dance coach, appearing on the BBC talent show Fame Academy in the early 2000s. He also worked with well-known performers and was involved in television and dance training.
For Avia, growing up meant occasionally experiencing the benefits of her father’s connections in the entertainment world. The recent revelations, she said, have fundamentally changed how she views that part of her life.

Andy Carroll’s Decision to Speak Out
Carroll, now 37, described the assault in his memoir, Owning It, before later confirming Adams’ identity after his name appeared in publicly available court documents.
The footballer has said the experience had a devastating effect on his life and those close to him. He has also asked people not to repeatedly share photographs of him alongside Adams, explaining that he wants to move forward without constant reminders of the incident.
The case has brought renewed attention to the challenges faced by survivors who choose to speak publicly about sexual abuse, as well as the impact such revelations can have on families.
