Four Family Members Found Dead in Georgia Home After Wife Filed for Divorce, Police Say

A devastating shooting in southern Georgia has left four family members dead, along with the man investigators believe was responsible. The tragedy unfolded inside a family home just weeks after the wife had reportedly filed for divorce, leaving relatives and the local community searching for answers.

The shooting occurred on October 9, 2026, at a home in Douglas, Georgia. Police and Coffee County sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 11:09 p.m. after receiving a report of an active shooter. Four adults were found dead inside the residence, while a fifth person was taken to a hospital and later died.

Authorities identified the suspected shooter as 64-year-old John Anthony Fabrizio. Investigators believe he fatally shot his wife, Rachel Elizabeth Fabrizio, 64, their two adult sons, James Nicholas Fabrizio, 28, and William Christopher Fabrizio, 26, as well as James’ partner, Rosaida Figueroa Berrios, 26. Fabrizio was also found with a gunshot wound and later died at the hospital.

According to police and court records, Rachel had filed for divorce in September after approximately 33 years of marriage. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the separation as part of their inquiry, but officials have not confirmed a definitive motive for the shootings.

Authorities also acknowledged that police had previously responded to calls involving the residence. However, officials said those earlier incidents had not involved reported physical violence.

In the aftermath, relatives and friends shared tributes to the victims. Berrios’ sister reportedly posted an emotional message on social media that included the words, “Run while you can,” drawing attention to the family’s distress following the tragedy.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish a clearer timeline and understand what led to the fatal events. Police have asked the public to respect the family’s privacy while loved ones grieve.
