Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Steal the Show at New York’s Halloween Dog Parade With a Surprisingly Timely Costume

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend brought celebrity flair and plenty of Halloween fun to New York City’s famous Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, where hundreds of dogs and their owners gathered in elaborate costumes.
The couple joined the 36th annual event on October 17, 2026, in Manhattan’s East Village, helping lead the parade alongside Fern Watt, organizer of the New York Dog Parade nonprofit. Their pet food brand, Kismet, co-sponsored the celebration.
But it was the couple’s own costume choice that caught attention. Legend dressed as Daejon Love, the man accused of impersonating a San Francisco 49ers player in an alleged $1.3 million fraud scheme involving women. Teigen completed the look by dressing as a football coach, turning the recent headline-making case into a Halloween costume.
The appearance also had a personal connection to the couple. Teigen recalled bringing their first dog, Puddy, to Tompkins Square Park when she and Legend lived in the East Village. Puddy, who has since died, helped inspire the pair to create Kismet and build a community around their love of dogs.
The parade featured a wide variety of creative outfits, from pop-culture characters to funny everyday objects. One standout was Snickers, a black-and-white dog dressed as New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson, who won the event’s Best in Canine Costume award. The prize included a ribbon signed by Teigen and Legend and a year’s supply of Kismet products.
The event also supported animal welfare initiatives, including efforts to spotlight dogs available for adoption through local rescue organizations.

For Teigen and Legend, the parade was more than a celebrity appearance. It was a chance to revisit a neighborhood that holds special memories while celebrating the bond between people and their pets.
