Indianapolis Mother and 9-Year-Old Son Found Dead — A Previous Online Post Has Drawn Attention

A tragic discovery in Indianapolis has left a community searching for answers after a 33-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son were found dead inside an apartment.

Police identified the woman as Shatayvia Alisha Calderon and the boy as Julian Calderon. Officers responded to a report of a shooting shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at an apartment complex near West 46th Street and Eagle Creek Parkway.

When officers arrived, they found both mother and son suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, investigators believe the incident was a murder-suicide in which the mother killed her son before taking her own life. A firearm was recovered inside the apartment, and detectives have been working to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Authorities have not publicly established a motive, and important questions about what happened before the shooting remain unanswered.

The case drew additional attention after reports revealed that Calderon had shared a fundraiser for Patrick Clancy in January 2023. Clancy had been seeking support after his three children died in a case involving his then-wife, Lindsay Clancy.

The connection between the two cases has prompted renewed attention online, but no evidence has been reported indicating that Calderon’s earlier post was connected to the deaths of her son and herself.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the tragedy. Police have described the incident as deeply disturbing and said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider community.

For now, the deaths of a mother and her young son have left a family and community grieving, while authorities work to piece together what led to the fatal shooting.
