Georgia Teen Accused of Killing Her Parents Smiled in Court — Then Broke Down in Tears

A Georgia teenager accused of killing her mother and stepfather drew attention during a court appearance after she was seen smiling and hugging her attorneys before becoming emotional as witnesses described how people had supported her following the deaths.

Sarah Grace Patrick, 17, appeared in a Carroll County courtroom on August 19, 2025, in connection with the February killings of her mother, Kristin Brock, 41, and stepfather, James Brock, 45. Both were found dead inside their home in Carrollton, Georgia.

According to PEOPLE, Patrick appeared to smile as she entered the courtroom and greeted her lawyers. Her demeanor changed as testimony began, and she was seen crying while listening to people who had helped care for her after the tragedy.

One witness, Kaitlin O’Keefe, testified that she had taken Patrick in after the killings. O’Keefe described the teenager’s grief and said Patrick sometimes found motivation to complete her schoolwork by thinking about her late mother.

The case had already attracted widespread attention because of messages Patrick allegedly sent to true-crime influencers before her arrest. In one reported TikTok message, an account using the name “Sarah Grace” asked a blogger to cover her parents’ deaths and offered to provide information about the case.

“I think it would be a really big hit,” the message reportedly said.

The account’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the messages became part of the public discussion as investigators continued examining the killings.

The bodies of Kristin and James Brock were discovered in February 2025 by the couple’s younger daughter, who was six years old at the time. Patrick called 911 after the discovery and later turned herself in to authorities in July.

She faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault. At the August hearing, a judge denied bond and ordered her to remain in custody. Authorities had not publicly established a motive for the killings.

Patrick’s expressions and emotional reactions in court cannot, by themselves, establish what happened or whether she is guilty. The charges remain allegations to be assessed through the legal process.

The case has left relatives, friends and members of the family’s church community grieving the deaths of Kristin and James, while the legal proceedings continue to examine the evidence surrounding their killings.
