Shocking Video Shows Men Attacking Security Guards and a K-9 Dog in Chaotic Chicago Subway Brawl

Violent footage from a Chicago subway platform has resurfaced, showing a chaotic fight between a group of men and private security guards accompanied by a German Shepherd. The disturbing confrontation has renewed questions about safety, security training and the use of canine teams on the city’s public transit system.
The incident occurred on July 9, 2025, at the Chicago Transit Authority’s 69th Street Red Line station on the city’s South Side. Video of the encounter shows punches being thrown, objects hurled through the air and security personnel struggling to control the situation near the train tracks.
During the melee, a trash can was thrown toward a security dog, while the German Shepherd lunged amid the confusion. One guard was knocked toward the tracks as the confrontation escalated, creating a dangerous situation for everyone on the platform.
Three people were initially reported arrested following the incident, while later reporting by ABC7 Chicago referred to four men being arrested and charged in connection with the confrontation.
The footage has attracted renewed attention following an investigation by ABC7 Chicago into Action K-9 Security, the private contractor providing canine security teams for the CTA.
Records obtained through a public-records lawsuit revealed 133 customer complaints involving the company since 2022. The complaints included concerns about guard conduct, canine behavior and animal welfare. The company disputed claims that complaints attributed to it were necessarily valid or correctly assigned.
The investigation also raised questions about training standards. Documents reviewed by ABC7 indicated that Action K-9’s handlers were required to complete at least 180 hours of training and pass a final examination. Working-dog experts interviewed by the station said national certification standards can require substantially more training.

Both Action K-9 Security and the CTA declined ABC7’s requests for interviews about the investigation. The transit authority has been evaluating its security arrangements as officials face ongoing pressure to improve passenger safety and transparency.
Although the brawl itself happened in 2025, the newly reported findings have brought the footage back into the spotlight. The incident remains a stark illustration of how quickly violence on a crowded transit platform can put security personnel, animals and bystanders at risk.
