Police Make Disturbing Discovery at Meghan Markle’s Father’s Former Home as Investigation Intensifies

Philippine authorities have confirmed finding files containing suspected child sexual abuse material on digital devices seized from the former home of Thomas Markle, the estranged father of the Duchess of Sussex.
The discovery marks a significant development in an investigation that began after Markle’s son, Thomas Markle Jr., reportedly alerted authorities to a large collection of disturbing material at his father’s property in Cebu City.
According to Philippine police officials, investigators identified files containing videos involving male and female minors, alongside other explicit material. The devices are now undergoing further digital forensic examination as authorities work to establish their ownership, origin and possible connection to any criminal activity.
The search reportedly involved a substantial collection of electronic equipment, including mobile phones, memory cards, hard drives and other storage devices. Police have emphasized that the investigation is continuing and that the material must be examined before conclusions can be drawn.
Thomas Markle Jr. previously claimed that he discovered hundreds or potentially thousands of images and videos while dealing with his father’s belongings. He reportedly handed the material to authorities and urged them to investigate.
Thomas Markle Sr., 82, has strongly denied the accusations, describing them as lies and suggesting that he had been set up. He has also denied committing the acts alleged against him.
His daughter, Meghan Markle, has said she is deeply distressed by the allegations. In a public statement, she expressed concern for any children who may have been harmed and said she hoped justice would be served. She also referred to a letter containing troubling allegations about her father that had been sent to British police in 2018.
The controversy has also raised questions about the handling of that earlier warning. The Metropolitan Police has referred the matter to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following scrutiny of why information in the letter was not passed to other law enforcement agencies at the time.
The FBI is also providing assistance to Philippine authorities as investigators examine the allegations and possible links to material reportedly discovered elsewhere.
Markle has since returned to the United States following serious health problems, including a stroke and the amputation of his left leg. Reports say he has been moved into a specialist care facility in Florida.

Despite the discovery announced by Philippine police, the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not established that Markle owned or produced the material, appeared in the recordings, or committed an offence. No formal charges against him have been announced.
