4-Year-Old Jayde Wooten Dies After Being Found in Water-Filled Bin at Georgia Home

A heartbreaking investigation is underway in Macon, Georgia, after 4-year-old Jayde Wooten was found unresponsive inside a large container filled with water and fish at a family home.

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies were called to the residence in the 1200 block of Rocky Creek Road shortly before 2 p.m. on September 19 following a report of a medical emergency. Jayde was later taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

According to an incident report obtained by local media, Jayde’s father had returned home and realized that his daughter was not in her bedroom. He searched the home and asked neighbors if they had seen her.

The report states that the father later heard Jayde’s mother scream and rushed back inside. He then found the little girl upside down inside a large trash bin containing water and fish in a bathroom. He pulled her from the container and carried her outside for help.

Family members and neighbors immediately tried to save Jayde, performing CPR before firefighters and paramedics arrived. Responding deputies also provided aid until emergency medical personnel took over. Despite the lifesaving efforts, Jayde could not be revived.

The circumstances surrounding how Jayde ended up inside the container have not been publicly established. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has said the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released an official cause of death.

The tragedy has left Jayde’s family and community grieving the loss of a young child. A fundraiser has also been established to help her parents with funeral expenses and other costs following her death.

For now, investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the incident. No conclusion should be drawn about how the child died until authorities release additional findings.
