Rachel Danis has opened up about the unexpected way she first met Patrick Clancy, sharing a glimpse into the relationship that began after one of the most painful chapters of his life.

In a preview of the couple’s upcoming interview with “60 Minutes,” Danis recalled meeting Patrick while he was jogging in Central Park on a particularly cold Saturday.

“I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday,” she said, describing a meeting that would eventually lead to a new chapter for both of them.

Patrick had become known publicly after the devastating deaths of his three young children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, in January 2023. His former wife, Lindsay Clancy, was later charged in connection with their deaths, and her highly publicized trial ended in a mistrial earlier this month after jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.

As Patrick attempted to rebuild his life, his path eventually crossed with Danis, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist based in New York City.

Their relationship gradually became more public, with photographs showing the couple attending workout classes together, appearing at the New York City Marathon and sharing moments with friends and family.

In April, Patrick and Rachel married during an intimate ceremony at the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park — the same place where their relationship had begun to take shape.

But their relationship has also faced intense scrutiny online.

Danis addressed the criticism directly, saying she was surprised by how their story had been portrayed by some people on social media.

“I don’t understand how the story’s been so twisted,” she said.

She also described Patrick as a devoted father and supportive partner, pushing back against the negative attention surrounding their marriage.

Meanwhile, the legal case involving Lindsay Clancy remains unresolved. Her murder trial ended September 4 after seven days of jury deliberations. According to reports, 11 jurors supported a finding of not guilty by reason of insanity, while one juror disagreed, leaving the panel unable to reach the unanimous decision required for a verdict.

The judge ultimately declared a mistrial after the jury reported that it remained deadlocked.

Now, as the case continues to draw national attention, Patrick and Rachel are beginning to share more about the personal story unfolding away from the courtroom — a story that started with a chance encounter in Central Park and eventually led to marriage.
