Ohio “House Of Horrors” Case Is Not Closed As New Charges And Competency Rulings Reshape The Investigation! nt

A viral image suggesting the Siders family case is “closed” is misleading. The investigation and criminal proceedings are still active, and recent court developments have actually made the case more complicated.
The case began after authorities executed a search warrant at a home on Ohmer Street in Hamden on June 30 and discovered 16 children living in unsafe conditions. The children were removed from the residence and taken for medical evaluation, while Gary Siders Jr., Elizabeth Siders, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders were arrested.
Since then, the allegations against Elizabeth Siders and Gary Siders Jr. have expanded. Both were indicted on two counts of sexual battery and two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor involving an alleged victim who was not one of their immediate children. The alleged conduct is said to have occurred between January and September 2022.
Elizabeth has pleaded not guilty to the additional sex-related charges, while her attorneys continue to raise questions about whether she fully understands the proceedings. A psychological evaluation was previously ordered to examine both her competency to stand trial and her mental state at the time of the alleged offenses.

One of the most significant developments involves Gary Siders Sr. A judge accepted a psychological finding that the 73-year-old is incompetent to stand trial and not restorable, meaning treatment is not expected to return him to competency. His defense attorney has said he expects the criminal charges against him to be dismissed, although prosecutors may still consider civil commitment.
The case is also broader than the 16 children found in the home. Ohio investigators say information from an earlier abuse investigation prompted a second investigation in March 2026, and that inquiry ultimately led authorities to the Hamden residence. Prosecutors have emphasized that their work is “far from complete.”

That distinction is important: a competency ruling affecting one defendant does not mean the entire Siders family case has been dismissed or closed. Gary Jr., Elizabeth and Christina still face criminal proceedings, while separate allegations involving another minor remain part of the broader investigation.
