Mother and 4-Week-Old Baby Allegedly Attacked in Detroit After She Agreed to a Family Visit

A young mother and her newborn son are recovering after an alleged ambush in Detroit that left both hospitalized and raised disturbing questions about a planned family visit.
The mother, identified only as “Taylor” to protect her privacy, told FOX 2 Detroit that she was contacted by relatives of her baby’s father, who reportedly wanted to meet the newborn. Her son was just four weeks old.
According to Taylor, she went to a home on Detroit’s west side believing she was bringing her baby to see family. But she said the situation quickly turned violent when three women allegedly confronted and attacked her.
Taylor described being outnumbered as the assault unfolded. She said the confrontation lasted around 10 minutes, leaving her with injuries to her face and swelling around both eyes. She had also undergone a cesarean section only weeks earlier.
The most alarming part of her account involved her newborn. Taylor said the baby was thrown from a stroller onto the ground, leaving him with a swollen eye and bruising. Both mother and child received medical care and were later reported to be recovering at home.
Detroit police were investigating the incident and preparing to submit the case to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review. At the time of FOX 2’s report, authorities were expected to pursue charges against the three alleged attackers, but the report did not establish that charges had been filed or that the suspects were in custody.

Taylor said she and her son did not deserve what happened to them. She also hoped those responsible would face consequences.
The investigation remains important to establishing exactly what happened and determining whether criminal charges will follow. The allegations against the women have not been tested in court.
