Amber Alert Issued for 14-Day-Old Twin Boys After Mysterious Disappearance From Michigan Hotel

Amber Alert for 14-Day-Old Twin Boys After Hotel Disappearance Ends With Babies Found Safe

An urgent search for two newborn twins in Michigan ended with relief after the boys were found safe, hours after an Amber Alert prompted a major police response.

The twins, Montana Alexander Bridges and Matthew Jace Bridges, were just 14 days old when they disappeared from a Quality Inn in Livonia, Michigan, on August 21, 2023. Authorities issued an Amber Alert shortly before 6 a.m., asking the public to help locate the infants.

The search involved local police, Michigan State Police and the FBI.

Mother Returns to Find Her Babies Missing

According to Livonia police, the twins’ mother had left the babies with two women she knew. When she returned, the infants were gone.

Investigators initially searched for two women believed to be traveling in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Authorities released details about the vehicle as they worked to locate the newborns.

The babies’ disappearance raised immediate concerns because of their age and vulnerability. Police moved quickly to coordinate the search across the Detroit area.

Twins Returned to a Detroit Police Station

At approximately 9:30 a.m., the boys were dropped off at the Detroit Police Department’s Ninth Precinct on the city’s east side.

Officers arranged for the twins to be taken to Children’s Hospital of Michigan for medical evaluation. Their family later confirmed that the babies were safe and back with their parents.

However, investigators initially could not explain where the boys had been during the hours they were missing or who had brought them to the station.

Four Arrests Announced After the Recovery

In a subsequent report, WXYZ said Livonia police announced four arrests in connection with the alleged abduction. The names of those arrested were not immediately released, and the case was referred to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

According to the family, the twins’ mother had connected with acquaintances through Facebook after seeking assistance with clothing and diapers. Relatives also described earlier incidents that had caused the family to fear for their safety.

Investigators continued examining how the infants were taken and what happened before they were returned.

Although the Amber Alert ended with the babies recovered safely, the circumstances surrounding their disappearance left important questions for investigators to answer.
