Christian Influencer Couple Face Serious Charges After Teacher Reports Injuries to Teen Daughter

A Texas couple known for their Christian books and online influence have been arrested after a teacher raised concerns about injuries allegedly suffered by their 14-year-old daughter.
Heather Marie Day and Seth Michael Day, both 39, were taken into custody in Keene, Texas, on September 24, 2026, according to court records. Heather Day is charged with injury to a child by omission, while Seth Day faces charges of injury to a child and first-degree sexual assault of a child.
The investigation began after a high school teacher contacted police about visible injuries on the teenager’s head and face. The girl was subsequently interviewed at the Johnson County Children’s Advocacy Center, where she described what authorities say were repeated incidents of abuse.
According to arrest affidavits, the teenager told investigators that her father had most recently assaulted her on September 22. She alleged that he struck her in the face with a cellphone, leaving cuts and bruises. While receiving medical treatment, she also reported an alleged sexual assault on the same day.
Investigators said the girl described previous incidents at homes in Midland and Keene. Records cited in the affidavits indicate that Child Protective Services had received earlier reports, including an investigation in August 2026.
The teenager also alleged that her mother knew about the abuse but did not report it. According to the documents, Heather Day allegedly encouraged her daughter to conceal her injuries, including by wearing a mask to school, and gave medical staff an explanation for the injuries that investigators disputed.
Police obtained a search warrant and reported finding evidence they believed supported parts of the teenager’s allegations. The claims remain allegations and must be determined through the legal process.
The arrests have drawn attention because the couple were known in Christian publishing and ministry circles. Heather Day is a Christian author and podcast host, and the couple co-wrote the relationship book I’ll See You Tomorrow. Seth Day worked as a professor at Southwestern Adventist University in Keene.

The university said Seth Day had been placed on administrative leave following his arrest and that it was cooperating with law enforcement. The school also stated that the allegations did not involve its students, staff or other faculty members.
The case has raised difficult questions about how the allegations came to light and whether earlier warning signs were adequately addressed. The investigation and court proceedings will determine what happened and whether the defendants are legally responsible.
