Convicted Bank Robber Accused of Using an Elderly Man Disguise in Two Florida Heists

A convicted bank robber is facing new federal charges after allegedly disguising himself as an elderly man to rob two banks in Florida. Investigators say the unusual disguise included a realistic-looking mask, gray facial hair and glasses.
David Sartin Jr., 40, of St. Petersburg, is accused of robbing a bank in Largo on August 24, 2026, and another in St. Petersburg on September 15, according to federal authorities.
Prosecutors allege that Sartin wore an elderly-looking disguise during both robberies and approached bank tellers demanding cash. He reportedly instructed employees not to include dye packs, which are commonly used to mark stolen money.
Investigators said the suspect used a bicycle as part of his escape strategy, allegedly riding it to and from a nearby vehicle. Surveillance footage and other evidence reportedly helped authorities connect him to the incidents.
During searches connected to the investigation, authorities allegedly recovered clothing resembling items worn during the robberies, a prosthetic mask and a fake handgun.
The case has drawn additional attention because Sartin was already on supervised release following a previous federal bank robbery conviction. Prosecutors said his criminal history includes several earlier bank robbery cases.

Sartin now faces two federal bank robbery charges. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison for each count. The charges remain allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
The investigation highlights how authorities used surveillance footage and physical evidence to investigate a suspect accused of attempting to conceal his identity through an elaborate disguise.
