Stella Parton Says She Hasn’t Received Condolences From Nashville Since Dolly Parton’s Death

Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, has revealed that she has not personally received condolences from any Nashville entertainers she knows following the country music icon’s death.

During an interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings on September 10, Stella said she had not heard from anyone in Nashville since Dolly died on August 25 at age 80.

“I haven’t heard from anybody in Nashville since my sister passed away,” Stella said. She added that she had not received “one condolence” from entertainers she personally knew.

Stella also offered her own theory about why she may not have heard from those acquaintances. She suggested that her outspoken political activism and comments on social media could have influenced some people’s decision to contact her.

“I’m assuming it might be because of my political, you know, activism on social media. I don’t know,” she said. Stella did not identify any specific artist who had avoided contacting her, nor did she provide evidence that politics was actually responsible for the lack of personal messages.

Her comments, however, should not be interpreted as evidence that Nashville’s entire country music community remained silent after Dolly’s death. Numerous artists and public figures have publicly mourned and celebrated Dolly’s life and legacy since her passing.
