Former BBC DJ Tim Westwood Faces Two More Sexual Offence Charges

Former BBC Radio DJ Tim Westwood has been charged with two additional sexual offences as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations dating back decades, London’s Metropolitan Police said.

The 68-year-old broadcaster now faces a total of 17 charges involving nine women. The latest charges relate to alleged incidents in London in 1991 and 2004.

Two New Allegations
According to the Metropolitan Police, Westwood has been charged with indecent assault over an allegation involving a girl aged 16 or 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991.

He is also charged with sexual assault relating to an allegation involving an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in May 2004. The Crown Prosecution Service said the two cases involve two additional women who were not part of the earlier proceedings.

The new charges were authorized by prosecutors following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police.

17 Charges Involving Nine Women
Westwood was previously charged with 15 sexual offences involving seven women. Those charges include four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

The alleged offences covered a period from 1983 to 2016.

With the two latest charges, the total has risen to 17 offences involving nine women.

Westwood pleaded not guilty to the original 15 charges in December 2025. He has denied the allegations.

Court Proceedings
The Metropolitan Police said Westwood is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court at a future date over the two additional charges.

The trial concerning the original 15 charges is scheduled to begin at Southwark Crown Court on January 25, 2027.

The Crown Prosecution Service stressed that the criminal proceedings remain active and that Westwood has the right to a fair trial.

Westwood became a prominent figure in British hip-hop broadcasting after joining BBC Radio 1, where he presented the station’s first dedicated rap show in the 1990s. He later continued his career with commercial radio.

The allegations remain matters for the courts, and no finding of guilt has been made in the new cases.
