Girl, 9, Feared Her Wheelchair Would Ruin Her Halloween Dream — Then 25 Students Stepped In

A nine-year-old Florida girl who dreamed of dressing up as a princess angel for Halloween received an unforgettable surprise after a group of older students transformed her wheelchair into a beautiful angel-inspired throne.

For Kaelyn Goodman, the school’s upcoming Halloween celebration was something to look forward to. But she worried that her wheelchair might make it difficult to bring her dream costume to life.

What happened next became a touching example of friendship, creativity and inclusion.

A Little Girl With a Special Halloween Wish

Kaelyn lives with congenital myasthenic syndrome, a rare condition that affects communication between nerves and muscles.

When she began preparing for her school’s Trunk-or-Treat celebration, she knew exactly what she wanted to become: a princess angel.

However, incorporating her wheelchair into the costume presented a challenge.

Rather than allowing that concern to limit her excitement, members of her school community decided to help create something extraordinary.

25 Students Come Together to Make Her Dream Real

At Babcock Neighborhood School in Florida, 25 eighth-grade STEM students joined forces to design a special Halloween creation for Kaelyn.

Using their creativity and problem-solving skills, they transformed her wheelchair into an elaborate angel-themed throne.

Kaelyn was involved in the process, sharing her ideas and favorite colors so the finished design would reflect her personality and imagination.

The project became much more than an ordinary classroom assignment. It gave students an opportunity to use their skills to make a meaningful difference in another child’s life.

A Beautiful Surprise for Kaelyn and Her Family

The completed costume allowed Kaelyn to celebrate Halloween as the princess angel she had imagined.

Her parents, Jabori and Kathryn Goodman, were deeply touched by the students’ thoughtfulness and the effort they had put into the project.

School staff also praised the experience for demonstrating how creativity, teamwork and compassion can work together to make activities more inclusive.

More Than Just a Halloween Costume

For Kaelyn, the project meant she could participate in the celebration while expressing herself through a costume designed around her own wishes.

For the students, it was an opportunity to see how their classroom learning could have a positive impact beyond schoolwork.

The heartwarming experience serves as a reminder that inclusion is not simply about making space for someone. Sometimes, it means working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the same special moments.

And for one little girl who dreamed of becoming a princess angel, 25 thoughtful students helped make Halloween especially memorable.
