Margot Robbie has taken her husband Tom Ackerley’s surname in British corporate records nearly a decade after the couple married.

The Barbie star is now listed as Margot Elise Ackerley in public filings for LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company she co-founded with Ackerley and two other partners.

A Companies House filing submitted on September 22 states that Robbie’s director details were changed on January 12, 2026. She had previously been listed in the company’s records under her birth name, Margot Elise Robbie.

The filing does not explain why Robbie changed her legal name or indicate whether she plans to use Ackerley professionally.

For her acting career, however, Robbie continues to be publicly credited as Margot Robbie, including in her recent film projects.

The 36-year-old actress and producer has served as a director of LuckyChap Entertainment since May 2015. She and Ackerley, also 36, launched the company in 2014 with producers Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr.

LuckyChap has since produced a number of successful films and television projects, including I, Tonya, Promising Young Woman, Birds of Prey, Saltburn and Barbie, in which Robbie played the title character.

Robbie and Ackerley married in December 2016 during a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia. Robbie appeared to confirm the marriage by sharing a photograph of herself kissing Ackerley while showing her wedding ring.

The couple first met while working on the World War II drama Suite Française. Robbie appeared in the film, while Ackerley worked as an assistant director.

The two initially became friends and roommates before their relationship developed into a romance.

Despite their high-profile careers, Robbie and Ackerley have generally kept their personal lives private while maintaining a close professional partnership through LuckyChap.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son, in 2024.

Robbie’s decision to use her married surname in corporate records comes almost 10 years after her wedding, although there is currently no indication that she plans to change the professional name under which she is known around the world.
