More Than a Dozen People Injured in Bus Crash Near Glenburn

More than a dozen people have been injured after a serious bus crash in Victoria’s Yarra Ranges, north-east of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to the crash near Glenburn shortly before 3pm on Thursday, September 24. According to Ambulance Victoria, paramedics were assessing 18 patients at the scene.

Specialist emergency crews were sent to the area, including an Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter and advanced life support units, as authorities responded to the large-scale incident.

Images from the scene showed a bus partly off the road and among trees, while emergency workers attended nearby.

The crash occurred on the Melba Highway, which was subsequently closed between Castella and Yea while emergency services worked at the scene.

Drivers were advised to avoid the affected section and use alternative routes through Kinglake and Flowerdale, including Healesville-Kinglake, Whittlesea-Kinglake and Whittlesea-Yea roads.

Local reports said the incident involved a bus and other vehicles, although authorities had not released full details about how the collision occurred at the time of the initial reports.

The condition and identities of those injured had not been fully released when the initial emergency response was reported.

Police and emergency crews remained at the location as investigations into the circumstances of the crash continued.
