Mother of Three Vanished After TV Court Appearance — Nearly 15 Years Later, Her Ex-Fiancé Is Charged With Murder
FLORIDA — Nearly 15 years after a mother of three mysteriously disappeared following a televised courtroom dispute with her former fiancé, investigators have announced a major breakthrough in a case that has haunted her family for more than a decade.
Dale Smith Jr., 55, was arrested on October 14, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of Michelle Parker, who was 33 when she vanished in November 2011.
A Disappearance That Shocked Florida
On November 17, 2011, Parker disappeared in Orlando, Florida, shortly after dropping off her three-year-old twins at Smith’s condominium.
Earlier that day, a previously recorded episode of the television program “The People’s Court” featuring Parker and Smith had aired.
The former couple appeared on the show to settle a dispute involving a missing engagement ring.
Parker was never heard from again.
Her Car Was Found, but Michelle Was Gone
Investigators discovered Parker’s abandoned vehicle the following day. Her cellphone was subsequently recovered from a nearby lake.
Despite extensive searches, interviews and years of investigative work, authorities were unable to locate her remains.
Her disappearance devastated her family, particularly her mother, Yvonne Stewart, who continued seeking answers as the years passed.

New Evidence Leads to an Arrest
On October 14, 2026, Orlando police announced that advances in forensic technology and a renewed examination of existing evidence had helped investigators make significant progress.
Authorities said their investigation pointed to Smith as the person responsible for Parker’s death.
He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder.
Smith has pleaded not guilty. His attorney has challenged the investigation and said the defense intends to examine the evidence.
A Family Still Waiting for Answers
For Parker’s mother, the arrest represents a significant development after nearly 15 years of uncertainty.
However, one heartbreaking question remains unanswered: Where is Michelle?
Her remains have never been recovered, and investigators continue working to establish what happened after she disappeared.
The arrest marks a new chapter in the long-running investigation, although the criminal proceedings have yet to determine Smith’s guilt or innocence.
