New York Jogger, 28, Left Fighting for Her Life After Brutal Attack on Brooklyn Waterfront Trail

A 28-year-old woman was left critically injured after being stabbed multiple times in the neck while jogging along a waterfront path in Brooklyn, New York. Police are searching for the attacker and appealing to the public for information.

The victim, identified as Katie Suarez, was running along the Shore Parkway Greenway in the Bath Beach area at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, when the attack occurred.

According to the New York Police Department, emergency responders found Suarez with multiple stab wounds and rushed her to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn. She was initially reported to be in critical condition.

Suarez had reportedly been training for the New York City Marathon. Reports citing sources familiar with her family said she had planned to meet her parents after her run. She spoke with them by phone shortly before the attack and reportedly said she was about half a mile away.

When she failed to arrive and stopped answering calls, her family became concerned. Her father later found her on the path and called for help.

Police have not publicly identified a suspect or established a motive. Investigators are examining the area and seeking surveillance footage and witnesses. Authorities have not confirmed whether Suarez was specifically targeted or attacked at random.

The NYPD is asking anyone who was near the eastbound path along the Belt Parkway, between Bay 8th Street and Bay 17th Street, between 7:56 p.m. and 8:12 p.m. on Friday to come forward.

Anyone with information can contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

The investigation remains ongoing as Suarez’s family and the community wait for answers.
