Oklahoma Mother Sentenced to Seven Life Terms After 11-Year-Old Daughter Gives Birth to Stepfather’s Baby

An Oklahoma mother will spend the rest of her life in prison after a jury found she enabled the sexual abuse of her 11-year-old daughter and repeatedly neglected the child. The case came to light when the girl gave birth at home without prenatal care or medical assistance, and DNA testing later identified her stepfather as the baby’s father.
Cherie Dawn Walker, 34, was sentenced on October 30, 2026, to seven consecutive life sentences by a Muskogee County judge. The punishment followed her conviction in July on one count of enabling child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect.
The investigation began on August 16, 2025, when emergency responders were called to the family’s home in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They discovered that the 11-year-old had just delivered a baby inside the house. The child had received no prenatal care and had not been given medical assistance during the birth.
Medical staff alerted authorities after the girl was taken to hospital. Investigators subsequently established through DNA testing that Walker’s husband, Dustin Walker, was the newborn’s biological father.
Prosecutors argued that Cherie knew her husband was sexually abusing her daughter but failed to protect the child or stop the abuse. Both adults reportedly told investigators they had not known the girl was pregnant before she gave birth.
Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson described the child’s experience as deeply traumatic, emphasizing that she had endured sexual abuse and then delivered a baby without medical support.
The court case also exposed wider concerns about the children’s living conditions. Prosecutors said the household had failed to provide adequate supervision, shelter and medical care. Several other children were also living in the home.

Dustin Walker pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child under 12 and six counts of child neglect. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, plus 42 years for the neglect charges, which he must serve before his life term.
The child’s maternal grandmother, Michelle Justus, has also been charged in connection with allegations that she knew about the abuse and failed to intervene. Her case remains separate, and she has not been convicted.
The seven consecutive life sentences mean Cherie Walker is not expected to be released from prison. The child, meanwhile, faces the long process of recovering from an ordeal that prosecutors say should never have happened.
The case has raised painful questions about how the abuse continued without intervention and why a child so young was left without the medical care and protection she needed.
