One person was killed and another was injured Friday after a multi-vehicle crash along Northwest 87 Avenue at 36th Street in Doral, Florida, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. Emergency crews responded with more than 20 units, including two air rescue units, according to public dispatch records.

Gustavo Perez, who was involved in the crash, said he saw a red GMC Canyon Denali pickup truck traveling southbound on Northwest 87 Avenue at high speed.

Perez said the pickup then crossed into the northbound lanes, resulting in a head-on collision and a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles.

“He rolled over on my hood. I saw the same bumper come this close to me,” Perez said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel assessed four people at the scene and released them, while two injured people were transported to hospitals, according to the department.

One of the injured victims was flown by air rescue to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Emergency crews also had to use specialized equipment to pry open the driver’s-side door of a white sedan that had become trapped between the GMC Canyon Denali and another red pickup truck.

Authorities had not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash or the identities and conditions of those involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
