Pregnant Sandra Birchmore Told Former Police Officer They Were Having a Baby. His Alleged Response Was Chilling

Newly revealed text messages in the trial of a former Massachusetts police officer have shed light on the tense exchanges that followed Sandra Birchmore’s announcement that she was pregnant.
Birchmore, 23, was found dead in her apartment in Canton, Massachusetts, in February 2021. She was pregnant at the time, and her death later became the subject of a federal murder case against Matthew Farwell, a former Stoughton police officer.
According to testimony presented in court, Birchmore texted Farwell in December 2020 to tell him they were going to become parents. Farwell allegedly responded with anger, writing, “I literally have nothing to say right now,” before sending another message calling her “truly the worst person on the face of the earth.”
Prosecutors allege that Farwell had groomed and sexually abused Birchmore when she was a teenager and later sought to prevent her from exposing their relationship. They claim he killed her and staged the scene to make her death appear to be a suicide.
Birchmore’s messages and the testimony of people close to her have become important parts of the ongoing trial. Friends reportedly described her as excited about the pregnancy, saying she had discussed plans for the baby and shared the news with others.
However, DNA testing later established that Farwell was not the biological father of the unborn child. Court testimony identified Army recruiter Jason Pickard as the baby’s biological father.
Farwell has pleaded not guilty to the charges and maintains that Birchmore died by suicide. The prosecution’s allegations have yet to be resolved by the jury.

As the trial continues, the messages have drawn renewed attention to Birchmore’s final months and the circumstances surrounding her death.
