Florida Roommate Recalls Fleeing in Fear After Hearing Loud Noise in Uber Eats Driver Murder Case

A Florida man accused of murdering an Uber Eats delivery driver allegedly left his housemate frightened enough to leave the home with his family the following morning, according to investigative records.
The case involved Randall Cooke, a 59-year-old delivery driver who disappeared on April 19, 2023, after making a food delivery in Holiday, Florida. His disappearance triggered a search that ultimately led investigators to a home where authorities said his remains were discovered.
The suspect, Oscar Solis, was accused of killing Cooke after the delivery. According to investigators, Solis’s roommate told detectives he heard a loud noise coming from the suspect’s bedroom that evening. The roommate and his family reportedly left the house the next morning because they felt uncomfortable.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage provided by the roommate. The video reportedly showed Cooke arriving at the home shortly before the incident. Additional footage allegedly showed Solis carrying trash bags outside the property the following day.
Authorities said human remains were discovered in the bags. Investigators also reported finding evidence inside the home, including blood and items belonging to Cooke.
Cooke had been delivering food to support his family. His disappearance alarmed his wife, who reported him missing after losing contact with him. Investigators used information from Uber Eats to identify his last known delivery location.
The case drew widespread attention because of the disturbing allegations and the seemingly ordinary circumstances in which the delivery began. Authorities said they had not identified a clear motive in the initial investigation.
Solis was charged in connection with Cooke’s death and the handling of his remains. The allegations were part of a criminal case, and any account of the incident must be distinguished from facts established through court proceedings.
