Two Men Wanted After Niagara Falls Assault Turns Into Homicide
Niagara Falls, Ontario — September 22, 2026

Police in Niagara Falls, Ontario, are searching for two men wanted in connection with a homicide after a man who was seriously injured in an assault died several days later.

The Niagara Regional Police Service said officers responded to a business on Lundy’s Lane near Hanan Avenue at around 6:22 p.m. on September 17 following a report of an assault.

Victim Dies After Assault
Officers found a male victim without vital signs at the scene. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators determined that the man had allegedly been assaulted by two suspects who fled the area.

Despite receiving medical treatment, the victim died from his injuries on September 21.

Police identified him as 37-year-old Matthew McAra.

Two Suspects Wanted
Following the victim’s death, the investigation was transferred to the Niagara Regional Police Homicide Unit.

Police identified two Niagara Falls residents as suspects:

Brandon Fitzgerald, 31, wanted on a second-degree murder charge.
Alexander Piccirillo, 46, also wanted on a second-degree murder charge.
Police have not announced that either man has been arrested.

Investigation Continues
Investigators believe the incident was targeted and are asking residents and businesses around Lundy’s Lane and Hanan Avenue to review surveillance footage that could help locate the suspects or establish what happened before the assault.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts is being asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service.
