Texas Woman Allegedly Urged Boyfriend to Kill Her Romantic Rival, Police Say

A deadly argument in Dallas, Texas, led to murder charges against a man and his girlfriend after another woman was fatally shot, according to police reports published in May 2023.
Authorities said the incident happened around 1 a.m. on May 20, 2023, on South Malcolm X Boulevard. Investigators identified the victim as Keerstin Cooper, who reportedly became involved in an argument with Breaira Martin, the girlfriend of Gabriel Leuyas.
According to police, Martin was upset because Cooper had previously spoken with Leuyas. Investigators alleged that Martin called her boyfriend over during the confrontation and told him to “smoke” Cooper, a slang expression reportedly used to mean shooting someone.
Police said Leuyas then allegedly fired twice at Cooper through a vehicle’s windshield. Another woman rushed Cooper to a hospital, where she later died.

Investigators used surveillance footage and other evidence to identify the two suspects. Both Leuyas and Martin were charged with murder, while Leuyas faced an additional weapons charge and Martin was also charged with resisting arrest.
The allegations described in the original report date back to 2023. The charges themselves do not establish guilt, and this report does not confirm the final outcome of the case.
