Wade Wilson’s case is drawing renewed attention after records detailing the extraordinary volume of messages sent to him resurfaced while his death sentence remains under appeal in Florida.

Wilson was convicted in 2024 of murdering Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz in Cape Coral in 2019 and was later sentenced to death. His case is still moving through Florida’s mandatory appellate process, and as of September 2026, no execution date has been publicly confirmed for him.

One of the strangest pieces of evidence surrounding the public reaction to the case came from jail communication records. After his conviction, Wilson reportedly received 3,903 electronic messages, 65 letters and hundreds of connection requests. Jail records also showed that hundreds of photographs were sent to him, with some rejected by staff for violating facility rules.

Support for Wilson did not stop with private messages. During the sentencing phase, numerous people wrote to the court asking that his life be spared, while online communities formed around him and continued discussing his case long after the verdict. Prosecutors publicly criticized the attention, arguing that it risked overshadowing the two women who were killed.

However, the image circulating online suggesting that “thousands still write to him” today should be treated carefully. The widely cited 3,903-message figure comes from his 2024 jail period, not from a newly released 2026 count. There is currently no verified public record showing that exactly 3,903 new messages have been sent to him on death row.

The more important current development is his legal status. Wilson remains incarcerated on Florida’s death row while his conviction and death sentences undergo appellate review. Despite social-media posts depicting an imminent execution or lethal-injection preparation, there is no verified death warrant or scheduled execution date for him at this time.
