Former The Traitors contestant Paul Gorton has revealed that his home was burgled shortly after he shared photos showing that his family was away on holiday.

Gorton had been enjoying a family trip to Mallorca with his partner, Kate Waldron, and their two sons when the break-in occurred. According to his account, the burglary happened after the family posted online that they were away, leaving their home unoccupied.

The thieves reportedly stole several valuable possessions, including Gorton’s bicycle, which he said was worth around £5,000. His partner’s jewellery was also taken, including a ring belonging to her grandmother that held significant sentimental value despite having little financial worth.

Gorton said the burglars appeared to have interfered with the home’s broadband connection, potentially affecting security equipment, before searching parts of the property. Police and forensic investigators were subsequently involved in examining the scene.

The reality star later urged those responsible to return the sentimental jewellery and bicycle, stressing that some of the stolen possessions were far more important emotionally than financially.

The incident has also prompted Gorton to reconsider how he shares information online. Posting holiday photographs in real time can reveal that a home is temporarily empty, potentially creating a security risk.

Despite the loss and disruption, Gorton said his family was safe. He has since used the experience to highlight the importance of thinking carefully about what information is shared publicly while away from home.
