Wade Wilson is back in the spotlight as older hospital images and family-related footage circulate again online, but the most important verified development remains his still-active death-penalty appeal before the Florida Supreme Court.

Wilson was convicted in 2024 of murdering Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz in Cape Coral and was sentenced to death on both counts. His automatic appeal, filed as Wade Steven Wilson v. Florida’s official appellate filings show that his attorneys raised multiple challenges to the convictions and sentences, including arguments over the state’s non-unanimous death-penalty law.

Images of Wilson wearing a head bandage have recently resurfaced alongside older photographs and interviews involving people connected to him. Those images relate to earlier periods of the case and do not establish a newly reported attack or medical emergency on death row. One of the central legal arguments concerns the Florida law that allowed Wilson’s jury to recommend death without unanimity. Jurors voted 9–3 for death in Kristine Melton’s murder and 10–2 in Diane Ruiz’s murder.
