Woman and Two Young Children Reunited With Family After Nighttime Rescue in Nigeria

Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria — September 28, 2026

A woman and her two young children have been safely reunited with their family after they were found wandering along a road in Osun State during a nighttime patrol.

The children, aged about three and one, were discovered with the woman near the Ogii area along the Gbongan-Ibadan road. Officers from the Osun State Amotekun Corps found them late Thursday night and took them to their headquarters in Osogbo for safety.

Officers Worked to Identify the Family

According to the Amotekun Corps, the woman initially had difficulty communicating with the officers, making it difficult to establish who she was or where she lived.

Personnel from the Corps’ family-focused unit continued speaking with her and were eventually able to obtain fragments of information that helped them trace her relatives to Ede.

The woman was identified by members of her family at the Amotekun headquarters. Her husband, Olawale Muideen, was reportedly out of town at the time, while his younger brother Mutiu Sodiq and the woman’s first son, Muideen Aliyullah, came to identify her.

Family Had Been Searching for Her

Sodiq said the family had been searching for the woman for several days after she failed to return home with the children.

He thanked the officers for finding the family and for taking care of the woman and the children while their relatives were being located.

The Corps said the woman and her two children were subsequently handed back to their family after the necessary investigation was completed.

A Safe Reunion

The case ended with the family reunited after officers were able to piece together limited information and trace the relatives in another community.

Osun Amotekun officials said the incident highlighted the importance of quickly reporting missing-person cases, particularly when young children or vulnerable adults are involved.

For the family, the search ended with the safe return of the woman and both children.
